Diamonds & More

Who said diamonds and books do not go well together?

Hi, my name is Anna.

I live in Hamburg and I am 20 years old. I study German Literature and if I had to find one word to describe myself, it would be books. Ever since I was a little girl I have loved to sit down in a quiet place with a book in my hand and imagine that I was in a different world.

Who said diamonds and books do not go well together?

My friends and family very well knew about it, so for my birthday, I got a diamond painting kit with an image from my favorite book.

I absolutely loved it.

I have never been a crafty person, but it appeared I did not have to be!

The craft of diamond painting turned out to be surprisingly easy and enjoyable. No frustration, no panic that the outcome will not be satisfying.

It did not take me a long time and after a few days, I was done with my “painting”. I proudly hung it on the wall and put the remains of the kit inside one of my drawers.

A few days later, I lost a bookmark I usually used whenever I was reading, which was almost every day.

My disappointment did not last for long, though.

While scrolling through the Internet, I found bookmarks made with the use of the diamond painting technique.

“Hold on,” I thought and quickly looked into the drawer. I had a few diamond pieces left and they were waiting to be used!

I took out all of them and started thinking about the design. I chose to go with a flower – basic, I know – but I was happy with it. With a help of a tutorial, I grabbed the necessary supplies and began to “paint”.

At first, it was nerve-wracking.

I was not sure if I did it the right way, but after a while, I gained my confidence back and relaxed.

Now, whenever I read out in public, I always get asked where I got my bookmark from. It’s my biggest satisfaction when I can say I have made it myself. 🙂
